mischarmed in the city
September 4, 2006I know that I haven't been blogging much, and you'll have to excuse me for that. It takes time to adjust to a different place. I have moved from my comfort zone of almost 5 years, and was thrown in the city. The city was and is still a wildnerness for me.
What's up with me?
- I have renewed my honed skills of standing in the bus for 1.5-2 hrs while it trudge from the province to the city. For most of the occassions that I had to stand just to be able to go to work, there were only one time that an elderly man in his forties or fifties, who offered me his seat. That was Aug. 30th. The following day, a man in his thirties offered his comfty seat to the lady beside me. We were seating on the bus step (now this is what I call an aisle seat). Why am I commuting daily? Because if I bought my dad's car, it's going to cost me 500Php/ day. And because we haven't found a place yet.
- I found out, the cost of a condo rental in the city for a 1Br unit with 30-40sqm is 20k if its unfurnished, excluding dues. If the unit is furnished, it would cost an additional 5 - 10k, depending on the area. Cooking with LPG is not an option in most condos, as well as pets (there goes the reason of selling off our dogs
). You can get a house outside of the city area, two-three rides away for the price of 15-20K. You can get a room that's clogged up and no breathing air for 5k. Any other options out there that you may want to let me know about? - The cost of my lunch delivered by Manong by the stairway, cooked wherever and whoever, is 45Php.
- I have been working for the past one month in Company B. I have finished the required function training, general training and e-learnings.
- I am bored.
A friend, a fellow new hire told me that there are lots of ways to entertain boredom - as with him, its with his French lessons. Friends from Co. A also said the same things. But from where I sit now, with my butt on the comfty chair, a local phone that never rang, and time ticking waiting to snooze to a decent time to take off, it's boring. And I am bored. The last time I was bored, I updated my resume in jobs*** and send them off. I wonder….
